Artwork Description
I grew up in Morelia, a city that in recent years has appeared in international rankings among the most violent cities in the world. Growing up in that environment shaped the way I experienced the world from an early age: the fear of going out into the street, the constant sense that something could happen, or the anxiety of not knowing whether the people you love will return home safely. That feeling of vulnerability has deeply influenced my painting. In my work, the human body appears as an emotional territory where fear and fragility coexist with the search for protection. Because of this, the idea of a safe space—both physical and psychological—has become a central element in my images. Shared Body proposes a different reflection within that search. In this work, the human body enters into a state of symbiosis with the earth. The nude figure merges with a vibrant field of color, where grass and vegetation begin to appear as an extension of the body itself. Skin and soil start to blur together until they become a single presence, as if both belonged to the same living matter. This connection also functions as a tribute to my land. The landscape surrounding the figure evokes a territory full of life, where agriculture, vegetation, and natural richness are essential parts of the identity of the place. In this sense, the body does not appear separated from its environment, but integrated within it, reminding us that human existence is also part of the cycles of nature. The work suggests that humanity and nature are not separate entities, but dimensions of the same living reality. In this encounter, the body ceases to observe the landscape from a distance and instead becomes part of it, as if the earth and the skin shared the same breath.
