Artwork Description

Culture or Country: Chancay. Period: Ca. 800-1200 A.D. Size: 17-3/4”H. x 10”W. Description: Tall hollow pottery standing male figure with raised hands and depicted with an exaggerated penis. Wearing a tri-pointed headdress. Salmon-pink slip ground with red-pink painted highlights. Left leg, head, penis and left arm reattached, with restoration over most of the break lines, some chipping on toes. Provenance: Ex. private Danish collection, acquired 1970’s, collection #1556.
