Artwork Description
Rubberneck is a sculptural investigation into our relationship with automobiles after impact. In the United States, over 19,000 crashes occur daily, revealing both the ubiquity of collision and the cultural stigma surrounding car safety. Focusing on vehicles manufactured in America and Mexico. The Nissan Tsuru, Versa, March, and Sentra, among the most hazardous models. The work examines how notions of safety, labor, and value intersect. Using reclaimed car parts and metals, Rubberneck explores how the auto industry and recycling economies shape communities, inviting reflection on how we continue to evolve alongside the machines that move us.
